iSimangaliso Wetland Park enforces strict lockdown measures

All gates to the park are locked until further notice

IN line with the national lockdown protocol, all gates to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park have been locked, with only essential services, including anti-poaching units, allowed to operate.

This, along with the suspension of all tourist activities, was announced yesterday (Friday) and will be in place until further notice.

The wetland park authority will follow national protocol uncompromisingly, especially in light of St Lucia having recorded its first Covid-19 cases.

In a bid to isolate the virus, a count of all tourists from high-risk countries who are within the park’s boundaries is to be carried out.

They must be isolated while their status is being confirmed.

No one is allowed to move from the accommodation units where they are staying.

Guests inside the park who are not from high-risk countries have been instructed to vacate immediately.

High-risk countries include USA, Iran, UK, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, China, France, Germany and Italy.

Medium-risk countries are Portugal, Hong Kong and Singapore.

For those who live within the park, scheduled trips for food supplies must be organised two days in advance and only essential services, including anti-poaching units, field rangers and water provision will continue.
