City of uMhlathuze puts preventative measures in place to minimise coronavirus threat

Preventative measures were announced by City Mayor Mdu Mhlongo on Wednesday

VARIOUS measures have been put in place within the City of uMhlathuze in a bid to minimise the spread of the coronavirus.

These preventative measures were announced by Mayor Mdu Mhlongo at a briefing on Wednesday and include the closure of all public swimming pools and beaches.

All mass gatherings have been cancelled in line with President Ramaphosa’s instructions.

Mayor Mhlongo also detailed other measures put in place by the municipality, which include residents being encouraged to use electronic means of payment, and hygiene control measures implemented at all municipal offices, facilities and depots.

The public is advised to call the coronavirus hotline on 0800 029 999 with any suspected coronavirus cases, or to report or obtain information relevant to the pandemic.
