DESPITE yesterday’s (Saturday) announcement that the probability of load shedding had increased, Eskom last night said the situation had improved.
Seven generation units tripped on Friday night, three of which were recovered last night.
As at 6.15pm yesterday, unplanned breakdowns were at 11 027MW while planned maintenance outages were at 5 435MW.
‘We are replenishing our emergency reserves for the coming week’, said Eskom.
‘We remind the people of South Africa, however, that the system remains constrained, vulnerable and unpredictable and, as such, load shedding may be implemented at short notice should there be unexpected changes.’
