The weapon was recovered after police received a tip-off

KWAMSANE police have recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the murder of Mnqobi Ndwandwe of Machibini Reserve in the Mnqayiza area on Monday.

According to police reports, Ndwandwe was shot by a suspect while walking home with his brother.

The brothers were approached by the suspect and ordered to turn back to where they were coming from.

After that a shot was fired at them and Mnqobi was hit in the neck, while his brother ran for his life.

On Sunday, police received information from a Community Policing Forum (CPF) member that a firearm was found in one of the homesteads in the area.

On searching the homestead, police found a firearm which they believe to be the murder weapon.

A suspect was arrested and initially charged with attempted murder, which was later changed to murder when Ndwandwe succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
