Three down, four to go for Nontu

Nontu carries South African flag high

RICHARDS Bay’s Nontu Mghabi, the only South African currently competing in the World Marathon Challenge 2020, has already completed three out of seven marathons.

To top her achievements thus far, Nontu has finished in the top five in every race out of the 12 ladies competing in her category.

The challenge entails competitors completing seven marathons (42.2km) on seven consecutive days on seven continents.

Nontu Mghabi celebrates her finish in Perth

Nontu clocked 5hrs 4min and 57sec in the first race in Cape Town and 6.51.11 in Antarctica.

Her best time came in the third run in Perth, Australia, where she finished fourth in the women’s section in 3.42.12.

The next marathon is scheduled in Dubai, then Madrid and Brazil, before finishing in Miami on Thursday.
