Legends honoured at House of Shaka IZIHLABANI Awards

Individuals who made history in various fields such as African intellectuality, creativity and liberation heritage, were given recognition.

Academics and SA legends were honoured during the recent House of Shaka IZIHLABANI Awards, held at Umfolozi Casino Hotel Resort in Empangeni.

The prestigious ceremony was headed by the Heritage Development Trust and supported by the National Lotteries Commission – to honour those who made an impact in literature, traditional leadership; education and music.

It recognised individuals who made history in various fields such as African intellectuality, creativity and liberation heritage.

Awardees included late legends such as King Dingiswayo kaJobe Mthethwa, Prof Alex Jabulani Thembela, Prof Paulos Luthuli, Abel Zitha, Sidwell Mhlongo and Mongi Zobe.

Living legends such as Dr Simon Mbokazi, Prince Ishwar Ramlutchman, Mabheka Zulu, The Aitken Brothers, Yolisa Nompula and Pastor Mthunzi Namba were also honoured.

The gala dinner also included entertainment by Nontu X, Qhoshangokwenzakwakhe and the renowned House of Shaka musical.
