Empangeni green pool soon sorted out

A concerned bather told the ZO that the water was so discoloured that had anyone drowned, no one would have been able to see a person under the water

THE Empangeni swimming pool was closed to the public for a day after turning green on Sunday afternoon.

A concerned bather told the ZO that the water was so discoloured that had anyone drowned, no one would
have been able to see a person under the water.

It was especially a concern because of the influx of people visiting the pool over the festive season.

When visiting the public facility on Monday the ZO was told that the municipality was in the process of solving the issue.

‘This could have been caused by the acidity in the rain which could have affected the Ph balance in the water. The problem will be sorted out,’ said a city official.

According to records, over 700 people visited the pool daily in the holiday season while on 26 December, the facility welcomed about 1 300 bathers.
