No load-shedding Friday but power system constrained

'We continue to ask customers to reduce demand' - Eskom

ESKOM technical teams will continue to work over the holiday period to minimise the possibility of load-shedding.

While there has been a drop in demand during the holiday period and a return of some generating units, the state-owned entity said the power system continues to be vulnerable and unpredictable.

‘Breakdowns are at 12 650MW as at 6am today (Friday),’ said Eskom.

‘Our technical teams will continue to monitor the situation over the holiday period, carry out planned maintenance and work at reducing unplanned breakdowns to below 9 500MW.

‘We continue to ask customers to reduce demand as a concerted collective effort can help avoid or lessen the level of load shedding.’
