Life sentence for eShowe killer

Qwabe was sentenced to life jail imprisonment for murder and 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder.

Convicted murderer Zamokuhle Qwabe (34) of eShowe, will spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced in the Melmoth Regional Court last Wednesday.

Qwabe was sentenced to life jail imprisonment for murder and 15 years for conspiracy to commit murder.

He was accused of killing traditional healer Khokhi Sibiya (64) on 24 December, 2017.

The court heard that the deceased and his son picked up Qwabe and his older brother, who said they wanted a consultation.

While they were travelling through Sgodiphola Reserve in the Babanango area, Qwabe shot and killed Sibiya with a high calibre firearm.

His son attempted to escape and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.

Qwabe and his brother fled the scene on foot.
