Matric exams disruptions countered

Ntuli’s statement comes in the wake of threats by certain lobby business groups who reportedly want to disrupt the distribution of exam papers delivery in the province

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Bheki Ntuli has issued a stern warning to those aiming to disrupt the matric examinations, saying security will be beefed up.

Ntuli’s statement comes in the wake of threats by certain lobby business groups who reportedly want to disrupt the distribution of exam papers delivery in the province.

MEC Ntuli has directed the Department of Community Safety and Liaison together with the police management to reinforce the school’s examination security plan.

After discussion with the MEC for Education, Kwazi Mshengu, the two departments agreed to monitor the situation closely and to proactively address any form of threat.

‘These threats are viewed very seriously, and we do not take them lightly. Anything that seeks to disrupt the future of our children will be met with tough actions from the state. Anything that is tampering with the future of our children will never be tolerated,’ said Ntuli.

He said the function of transporting matric examination papers is an involved process, which the Department of Education is tasked with, including addressing the security vetting of all service providers.

MEC Ntuli assured learners, parents and stakeholders that police would be deployed in all hot-spot areas.
