Eskom-planned power outage for Thursday

Emergency work must be carried out on the Impala/Nseleni/Mtubatuba 132kv overhead line

A MASS power outage set to last 12 hours has been scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) and will affect a large portion of the region.

Residents of eNseleni, KwaMbonambi, Mtubatuba, St Lucia and Hluhluwe will be affected by the electricity cut which will be in force from 6am – 6pm.

The emergency interruption to the power supply is to allow Eskom technicians to repair a severely damaged conductor identified on the Impala/Nseleni 132kv overhead line.

For safety reasons, Eskom urges customers to treat all installations as live for the duration of the outage.

The utility further advises customers not to approach any low hanging conductors or fallen cables.

These should be reported to the Eskom Customer Contact Centre on 08600 37566.
