A 15-year-old teenage girl of the Ophaphasi area in Mtubatuba has opened a rape case against her uncle.
The Grade 8 learner, an orphan, alleges that she was raped several times while she was in Grade 6 and 7 by the same man.
Her 46-year-old foster parent said she learnt about the girl’s ordeal after visiting a social worker. ‘After observing some unusual behaviour I decided to report her ill-discipline to the local social worker as I am a foster parent.
‘The social worker invited both of us to talk about her behaviour, and that is when she divulged that she had been raped,’ the foster mother said. ‘The social worker advised us to report the rape incident to the police, which we did.
