Livestock theft arrest in Zululand

Investigations led police officers to Ceza last Saturday where five stolen cows were found

ONE suspect was arrested and seven stolen cattle recovered after members of the Vryheid stock theft and K9 units conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Zululand.

Investigations led police officers to Ceza last Saturday where five stolen cows were found.

This operation follows the recovery of two stolen cows last Friday, also at Ceza.

According to police, while the Nongoma stock theft unit was conducting proactive operations to curb stock theft, they intercepted a vehicle towing a trailer which contained two cows.

The driver was questioned, but provided the officers with an acceptable explanation.

However, through the brand marks on the cows, the owner was traced and he identified the cattle as his.

He also identified the cattle recovered on Saturday.

All cattle had been stolen from a grazing field at Ngome last month.

The suspect (34) will face charges of livestock theft.
