Community extends helping hand to Hospice

Mandela Month raised much awareness for our organisation and we received phenomenal support from the public

AFTER appealing to the community for support towards their community programmes and income-generating projects, the Zululand Hospice Association received a hood influx of contributions.

Hospice fund-raising officer Ashley Naicker said the organisation received generous contributions of clothing, books, toys and other items for resale at their charity shop in Empangeni, as well as a donation of 50 toiletry hampers from Richards Bay Road Lodge General Manager, Sharon Graham and her team.

‘We are extremely grateful for the essential toiletries which will be used for patients. The contribution formed part of the lodge’s Mandela Month activities.

‘Another generous donation was received from a group of youngsters of Richards Bay Secondary School and the collection was spearheaded by community member Roshnee Palavar.

‘Mandela Month raised much awareness for our organisation and we received phenomenal support from the public.

‘The AWOL (A Work of Love ) youth project assisted with a clean-up project at our Empangeni premises last month and Freedom Generation Human Trafficking awareness project hosted a training session for our team with a donation of refreshments provided by Saffron Curries in Richards Bay,’ said Naicker.
