AS the countdown to Madiba Day celebrations begins, Zululand businesses, community groups, schools and corporates are gearing up for the massive ‘Hang out with Mabiba’ commemoration this Thursday as wash lines go up across the City of uMhlathuze.
Zululanders are encouraged to gather all their donations of clothing, blankets and soft toys for charity and peg them on a nearby washing line as a noble gesture and contribution for their 67 minutes of goodwill.

The Zululand Observer’s annual Mandela Day initiative has taken the community by storm this year, with King Cetshwayo District Municipality, Hillside Aluminium, Foskor, the Richards Bay port and
Richtek Campus joining the movement and erecting lines at their premises.
This is in addition to the washing lines at the Zululand Observer’s office in Empangeni (Baines Road), and the open space between the Civic Centre and East Central Arterial (circus site) in Richards Bay from 7.30 to midday, and at the Mtunzini Primary School from 9am to noon which is being manned by the Rotary Club of Mtunzini.
