Mtubatuba hitch-hiker girl raped by motorist

It is alleged that because of a bus strike, the 18-year-old victim decided to hike from Richard’s Bay to Mtubatuba at about 4pm

KWAMSANE police are investigating a case of sexual assault after a schoolgirl was raped by an unknown motorist last Friday.

It is alleged that because of a bus strike, the 18-year-old victim decided to hike from Richard’s Bay to Mtubatuba at about 4pm.

uMkhanyakude Police Cluster spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, said the girl was reportedly offered a lift by a motorist in a white private car, which had no passengers.

‘The driver drove a short distance and turned into a gravel road. The victim said she thought the motorist was taking a shortcut to Mtubatuba. ‘She alleges that the suspect drove with her into the bush, where he stopped the vehicle and produced a knife.

He threatened her and ordered her to take off her pants and underwear and then raped her.’

‘Afterwards the man drove back to the main road and dropped her off at Mtubatuba Mall.  ‘A case of rape is under investigating and no arrest has yet been made,’ said Mdletshe.
