THE 2019 National and Provincial elections are set to take place on Wednesday, 8 May and there are a number of procedures undertaken by the IEC to ensure the process is free and fair.

There will be about 220 000 election staff recruited and trained for elections.

Some 68 000 individuals were recruited and trained for registration weekend.

The counting of votes happens immediately after voting, and is witnessed by agents and observers.
