Keep busy during school holidays

Check out what Richards Bay has to offer

WITH government schools closing on Friday and private schools next Wednesday, finding activities to entertain oneself over the holiday period can become quite cumbersome.

But with the beach on one’s doorstep and many sporting clubs just a few kilometres away, one can sit back and enjoy the school holidays and the Zululand sun.

The Richards Bay skate park offers a chilled spot for youngsters to hang out, meet new friends, and show off their sick skateboarding, biking and roller blading moves.

If that’s not one’s thing, then the Inkwazi Boardwalk Shopping Centre offers retail therapy, the latest blockbuster movies at the cinemas and tons of gaming at the local arcade.

For young adults (those over 18 years) there are also a number of clubs to go to both in the CBD and at the Waterfront.

Outdoor and sporty types can hit Alkantstrand for an early morning or late afternoon body-board or surf.

One can also go kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddling or yachting at the local yacht, canoe and kayak clubs.

Avid anglers have the entire Zululand coastline to explore.

Mountain biking and road cycling enthusiasts can explore routes from the Zululand Multi Sports Club.

So there is no reason to lounge around at home, gain weight and return to school next term looking like a bloated blop.

Get out, burn some energy while catching a tan and remain active over the holidays, as Richards Bay has much to offer.
