65-year-old man arrested in KwaMbonambi for murder

The suspect had been arrested for murder and attempted murder following an argument between himself and two women he had taken home from a restaurant in the early hours of Sunday morning

A 65-YEAR-OLD man was arrested at the weekend after he murdered a woman in the KwaMbonambi area, wrapped her body in a plastic bag and put it into his vehicle before fleeing the scene of the crime.

In a press statement, police said the suspect had been arrested for murder and attempted murder following an argument between himself and two women he had taken home from a restaurant in the early hours of Sunday morning.

An argument ensued between them when they wanted to leave, after which the man took out a shotgun and fired shots at them.

One was fatally wounded, but the other survived.

The wounded woman managed to flee and reported the incident to the police.

A case of murder was opened at the KwaMbonambi police station for investigation and police followed up on the suspect.

He was spotted in the Emangweni area and he fired several gunshots at the police.

Members returned fire, but no injuries were sustained.

The woman’s body was found wrapped in plastic inside his vehicle.
