HEFTY prison sentences have been handed down to two Pongola men for two separate rape incidents.

Last week the Pongola Regional Court found Ndumiso Ntumba (29) guilty of rape and sentenced him to life behind bars.

On Christmas Day, 2017 a number of children were playing near Ntumba’s home in the Belgrade area.

He sent all the children except one girl to the tuck shop, during which time he took the seven-year-old girl into his home and raped her.

According to police records, the girl screamed and Ntumba gave her R1 to keep quiet.
