POLICE have alerted KZN women about con men who target them for their hard-earned money.
The warning was issued by provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele.
She said scammers specifically target widows, older or divorced women by pretending to be attracted to them.
‘These criminals would influence the women to invest their money in false schemes or convince them to consult a ‘traditional doctor,’ who will assist with multiplying their cash using ‘black magic.’
Mbhele said a large number of women had already fallen victim to the scammers.
She said it was difficult to investigate cases where there had been an agreement of exchange of cash in a romantic relationship.
‘We urge women to be vigilant at all times and not to trust anyone with their life savings,’ said Mbhele.
