It’s a ten-year celebration!

A decade on, Destiny House has grown in the Mtuba community

DESTINY House is this year celebrating 10 years of its work in providing a safe haven for orphaned and abandoned children in and around Mtubatuba.

Their vision is to empower and enable children to fulfil their God-given destiny so they can belong to a loving family and believe they are created with the objective of becoming leaders in the nation.

It is Destiny House Children’s Ministries’ mission to welcome vulnerable, orphaned children into a loving, secure family environment where they receive unconditional love, spiritual discipleship, quality education, care and nurturing.

Destiny House aims to partner with government, business and the church, and has throughout the past decade, built strong relationships with local entities.

Through their objectives of providing a residential care programme for orphaned and abandoned children, as well as therapeutic and developmental programmes, Destiny House has, to date, positively influenced the lives of 58 children.

Of those children, 31% have been reunited with their families, 14% placed in foster homes and 7% adopted.

It is the philosophy of Destiny House that children integrate easier into a family environment if they grow up in a home with a house mother, or house parents, who are always there for them.

This is especially relevant to those who have been at Destiny House long-term.

Phase three of Destiny House is to build two smaller units, each to house half the children.

As all must be done with the aid of donations and sponsorship, a total of R1.2-million must be raised for the project.

Destiny House is currently home to 24 children between the ages of 0 and 14 years old.

After making use of three different rental properties, in 2015 Destiny House moved into its own premises on the grounds of Grace Community Church in Mtubatuba town.

The home provides employment for 15 people, most of whom are breadwinners.
