Family of abandoned KwaDukuza infant urged to come forward
The baby was found well-clothed and wrapped with a blanket at an unoccupied home on the R74 highway

POLICE in KwaDukuza have issued a heartfelt plea for assistance from community members in locating the next of kin of a week-old baby boy.
According to SAPS, detectives from the KwaDukuza Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit were notified about the abandoned infant who had been found near an unoccupied house on the R74 highway in Maphumulo by a passerby on 16 September.

The baby was well-clothed and wrapped in a blanket.
He was taken to hospital for medical attention.
A case of child abandonment was opened at the Maphumulo police station.
