Nkodibe teen raped repeatedly by uncle

The uncle has repeatedly raped his niece for three years

THE KwaMsane Family Violence and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is investigating a case of rape after a 16-year-old girl accused her uncle of repeatedly raping her for three years.

According to the girl, the ordeal began when she was 13 and living with her grandmother in Nkodibe area.

She said her uncle would come in to her bedroom late at night and take her to his bedroom where he would sexually abuse her.

According to police reports, the victim claimed to have reported the rapes to another uncle who advised her to speak with her grandmother.

‘The granny told her that she is going to church and they would talk when she came back, but that didn’t happen,’ said KwaMsane SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe.

‘Last year during November she went back to her mother’s home at Mfekayi and she told her mother all that had happened at Nkodibe.

‘Her mother went with her to KwaMsane Social Development, but she was told she cannot be helped since the rape took place a long time ago.’

The Social Development Manager later advised the victim’s mother to open a rape case at the police station.

The case was opened and transferred to KwaMsane FCS Unit.

At the time of going to print, it was unclear as to whether or not an arrest had been made.
