Son receives 22-year sentence for raping mother

The first rape incident occurred in 2015

A 30-YEAR-OLD Phoenix man has been sentenced to 22 years imprisonment for raping his biological mother.

The rapist, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his mother, was convicted in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The two were living in the same residence in Phoenix, near Durban, when the first rape incident occurred in 2015.

The court heard that the accused approached his mother (52) and informed her that he wanted to have sex with her.

She refused, saying it won’t happen as she was his mother.

The accused then assaulted his mother raped her. She told relatives about the incident.

The court heard that the accused also raped his mother in March 2016.

She reported the matter to the police and the accused was then arrested.
