THABANI Mzolo who is accused of killing former girlfriend Zolile Khumalo, has abandoned his bail application.
He appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and said fear for his safety was the reason for dropping his bail application.

He will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 29 August.
Mzolo is accused of shooting and killing Khumalo (21), a Mangosuthu University of Technology first year student from eShowe.
She was killed at the university’s Lonsdale residence.
The university said it would tighten security at the residences.
