Municipality empowers informal micro enterprises

Kwadukuza municipality provides aid to informal micro enterprises

IN partnership with the departments of Small Business and KZN Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affair, the Kwadukuza Muncipality provided much-needed tools to improve trading for local informal micro enterprises.

The municipality issued the equipment last week to enhance entrepreneurial ventures and improve current working conditions.

These include fridges, gazebos, popcorn machines, ice makers, catering equipment, water tanks, industrial sewing machines, cooler boxes, folding tables, gas cylinders, electrical urns, gas cylinders, chairs and potato chippers.

Through such initiatives the municipality aims to lead an integrated approach to the promotion and development of small business and cooperatives, through a focus on the economic and legislative drivers that stimulate entrepreneurship.

The municipality has allocated R9 000 to each informal micro enterprise for the procurement of items and each informal micro enterprise representative will complete a basic business management course to ensure that they graduate from being ‘informal’ and begin to run professional businesses.
