LifeLine services to rural communities
They offer counselling services, referrals for further interventions and community awareness programmes
EXTENDING their services to rural communities, LifeLine Zululand is making headway in Nkandla after locating to the Ekombe Police Station.
They offer counselling services, referrals for further interventions and community awareness programmes.
Building awareness around gender-based violence, elderly and other abuses, victim empowerment, domestic violence and human trafficking is part of the programme’s strategy to engage with community members to help them make informed decisions.
The awareness measures include home visits to ensure community participation and for the local community to become familiar with LifeLine services as well as to provide them with services or links to other needs.
Residents are encouraged to speak out whenever they experience any kind of abuse and individuals are supported to heal emotionally.
In addition, the representatives also visit the courts and engage with victims of crime and violence and attend community meetings and awareness events to introduce LifeLine’s services and offer support.
As children are exposed to drugs, alcohol, teenage pregnancy, human trafficking and behavioural problems, the team also targets schools for awareness interventions.
