Mtubatuba SAPS’ Easter clampdown

The heavy police presence in Mtubatuba over Easter bore much fruit

ALMOST 200 vehicles were searched and 30 summons issued as Mtubatuba SAPS took to the streets in force over the Easter Weekend.

Clamping down on drink-driving, vehicle licences and road worthiness, police officers patrolled Mtubatuba’s streets by day and night throughout the long weekend.

As instructed by the KZN Provincial Commissioner, Mtuba SAPS executed a major roadblock on Easter Monday, while on the Saturday and Sunday patrols were intensified around the CBD and churches.

Around 200 vehicles were searched in the joint roadblock held at Nkodibe bridge on the N2

Easter Monday’s joint roadblock was carried out by Mtubatuba and KwaMsane SAPS, Road Traffic Inspectorate and Mtubatuba Municipality at the Nkodibe bridge on the N2.

‘We are very lucky to have such dedicated members who avail themselves when needed,’ said Mtubatuba Station Commander, Colonel Mngomezulu.

‘Our station experienced no serious crime over the weekend, and during the roadblock 30 summons were issued, 918 people searched and 198 vehicles were searched.’

Police patrols were also carried out at Mtuba Mall and other parts of town and the CBD

All motorists who were stopped, were breathalyzed to test for drink-driving.

A traditional festival and other events including music and dancing talent shows at Nkunduse sportsground were also attended by Mtubatuba SAPS as well as the Empangeni Public Order Policing unit.
