ISO 14001 is the best international standard in environmental management
THE Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) has confirmed its commitment to good environmental management after it recently received ISO 14001 certification.
RBIDZ SHEQ manager, Percy Langa, who is responsible for ensuring the company adheres to both the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards said, ‘The certificate is valid for three years and, during this period, we will ensure we keep on adhering and taking a proactive approach in identifying environmental risks with the aim of improving the environment.’
The ISO 14001 is a family of international standards that assists organisations and companies to implement a systematic framework for better management control of environmental responsibilities. Using ISO 14001 has many benefits including improved natural resource efficiency, waste reduction, improved stakeholder and customer trust, and gaining a competitive advantage in investor attraction.
