St Lucia developments progressing

The new camp site entrance is open but other work is still in progress

AMID ongoing development in and around St Lucia, construction of the new entrance to the Sugarloaf camp site is now complete and the entrance is open and operational.

The next phase of iSimangaliso’s estuary precinct development is that of the craft market area, public ablutions, additional parking and a turning circle for tour buses, which got underway on Monday.

Work will begin inside the original entrance to Sugarloaf camp site and is not expected to disrupt traffic flow over the Easter Weekend.

From the week commencing on 9 April, construction operations will expand to the existing boardwalk parking and entrance area, and vehicles will be directed by signage to park at Sugarloaf jetty or the lake side parking area west of the St Lucia Ski Boat Club.

There will be no vehicle access beyond the Ski Boat Club until construction has been completed.

Owing to the construction of a ‘splash-through’ between the Main and Jabula beach areas, there is currently no through road.

Access to these beaches is from Iphiva Road for Main Beach or Beach Road to access Jabula and Ingwe beaches.
