Nkandla man of God robbed

The Nkandla reverend said he was swindled out of a huge amount of money after a responding to a Facebook advert

MAN of God, Reverend Lindelani Ngobese, has been ripped off by some devilish online scammers and wants to warn others against social media villains.

The Nkandla reverend said he was swindled out of a huge amount of money after a responding to a Facebook advert.

‘I wanted to buy a container for my business in which to keep my stock, so when I saw this advert on

Facebook I thought my problem of moving my stock every day was over,’ said Ngobese.

He called the company and found the price was reasonable.

‘They asked me to make a payment together with delivery fees, but once I did so they changed the story and said Nkandla was very far and demanded more money for delivery.

‘While waiting for my container to be delivered, they then demanded additional payment for insurance and clearance and that was when I became suspicious.

‘I soon realised I was tricked. I paid the money into a personal account, something I only discovered when I reported the matter to my lawyers,’ Ngobese said.

KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, confirmed that a case of theft has been opened at the eShowe police station.

Ngobese urged community social network users to be vigilant and verify the legitimacy of businesses before making cash deposits.
