A CONVICTED rapist and murderer was last week sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Nongoma Regional Court.
This after the magistrate heard how Mboniseni Dlamini (32) committed the heinous crime a little over a year ago.
According to police records, at about 4am on New Year’s Day last year the 24-year-old victim was at her house in Ekubuseni area, Nongoma when she was approached by Dlamini.

An argument ensued after which the woman was raped and stabbed to death.
Her throat was slit and she was later found lying in a pool of blood.
A knife, suspected to be the murder weapon, was found at the scene.
Nongoma SAPS opened a case of rape and murder, and a thorough investigation led detectives to Dlamini who was arrested and tried on both charges.
KZN Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa welcomed the sentence handed down to Dlamini.
‘The accused showed no remorse when attacking his victim as she was brutally killed and raped. This will send a strong message to would-be criminals that the police will not tolerate those who abuse women and children.’
