WHILE wishing their fellow NSRI crew members well for last weekend’s Midmar Mile swim, Brynn Gericke, Chris Peens and Nadine du Rand decided on a small wager on how their swimmers would fare against each other.
It was decided that all funds raised would be donated to Richards Bay SPCA.
The swimmers, Elizabeth Gilbert, Jean Slabbert and Andre Botha, all finished the race, with Gilbert recording a time of 33.28, Slabbert 38.10 and Botha 42.05 over the distance of 1.9km.

A total of R1 200 was raised and handed over to the SPCA last Tuesday.
‘We are very grateful for this donation. Every amount makes a big difference in the running of the SPCA and the lives of the animals in our care,’ said SPCA Chairperson Sarel Small.
