Police probe death of ‘most wanted’ suspect

MAHLABATHINI SAPS have opened an inquest docket following the death of a ‘most wanted’ suspect.

The suspect is believed to be the ringleader of several criminal activities reported to have occurred at Okhukho industrial area.

The Zululand Police Cluster spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, said the members of the National Intervention Unit (NIU) were following leads about the suspect, Boy Nsele (43).

He was wanted for various cases, including an attempted murder on a bus driver, whose bus was also set alight.

‘It is alleged that when the police arrived at his residence on Friday night, Nsele jumped out the window of his hut and ran out of his homestead.

A 9mm pistol was recovered from Nsele’s residence.

‘Members of the NIU gave chase and caught him. He started complaining about chest pains and collapsed,’ said Gwala.

According to Gwala, Nsele was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
