Lions go for a bumper snack in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park

Lions bite into tourists' hired car

A DUTCH couple could not believe what happened to their hired vehicle as they entered through Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park’s Memorial Gate on Tuesday last week.

Not far from the gate they came across two lions lying in the road.

They stopped and watched the lions walk around the vehicle.

Suddenly they felt the car jolting and slowly reversed before driving back to the gate to see what had happened.

They found that the rear bumper had teeth marks on both sides as either one or both lions had bitten into the car.

The incident was reported to Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife officials at the Hilltop Resort.

No further action is expected to be taken, except for the tourists having to explain to the car hire company how the vehicle was damaged.
