Burnt cables cause prolonged power outage

Power is being restored in stages, with some residents' supply having been restored last night and others early this morning

The City of uMhlathuze has confirmed that burnt cables at the substation near the Small Craft Harbour  are the reason parts of Meerensee and Mzingazi have been without electricity since yesterday afternoon.

The municipality said teams have been working throughout the night and are still tracing some faults.

The City last night issued a planned emergency power outage notice for Meerensee and the harbour today (Wednesday) from 8am to 3pm.
