Richards Bay youngster launches adventure book

The 10-year-old 'bookworm' infused her love for fairy tales and adventure in her debut children's book which follows a young girl 'Vicky' as she ventures across Egypt to be the best adventurer

RICHARDS Bay youngster, Danielle Naraidu has turned her passion for creative writing into a masterpiece in her first book release, ‘Vicky the Traveller: Finding the Treasure’.

The 10-year-old ‘bookworm’ infused her love for fairy tales and adventure in her debut children’s book which follows a young girl ‘Vicky’ as she ventures across Egypt to be the best adventurer.

Danielle has always been an avid reader and after compiling numerous short stories and poems she decided to have her first book published last year.

‘I have always been captivated by fairy tales and adventure novels and I can spend hours reading a good story.

‘I like to travel and I find that reading allows me to go on many adventures without having to leave the comfort of my own home.

‘My aim is to make reading fun and to encourage children to read from a young age, that is why my books targets youngsters from age six to 11 years,’ she said.

When she is not curled up on the couch with a good book, Danielle gets creative with arts, crafts and bead-work and playing chess.

Reading is one of Danielle’s favourite hobbies and she hopes to inspire the youth to go back to basics, read more and improve their literacy.
