RENOWNED radio personality Johan von Bargen conducted an anti-hijacking seminar for Richards Bay residents prior to the festive season, when this type of crime normally escalates.
The talk was held at Arboretum Primary School and hosted by the Arbovlei Community Policing Forum, which comprises the Arboretum, Veldenvlei and Wildenweide suburbs and works closely with Fidelity ADT to improve safety and security.
‘Von Bargen shared important tips on how to handle a hijacking situation. His knowledge, experience and practical safety measures were of great value and were appreciated by all who attended,’ said Arbovlei CPF Chairman Davie Coetzee.
Fidelity ADT shared the seminar details with their client base and also donated lucky draw prizes for the event.
Branch manager for Richards Bay, Les Rungasamy, said they were happy to have been a part of this initiative.
‘We were delighted at the wonderful turnout and congratulate the Arbovlei CPF on organising such a successful event.
‘Seminars such as these create the necessary awareness among residents by enabling them with appropriate methods to follow in case of an emergency.
‘We would be happy to assist any person wanting to join a CPF or to start one in their area,’ said Rungasamy.
