The event raised R134 400 for the Richards Bay SPCA

ANIMAL lovers from in and around Richards Bay, and further afield, descended on Richards Bay SPCA last Friday in support of the inaugural ‘A night in the life of a rescue animal’ fund-raiser.

Fourteen teams registered to participate in the kennel lock-in and were each given the task of raising R5 000.

Within two weeks, the teams had exceeded their targets and event organiser Shirley Davidson from Magic Moments set her sights on raising a grand total of R100 000.

Even this was exceeded as she announced the grand total – which included funds and food – was an outstanding R134 400.

Unable to keep their emotions back, SPCA Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, Sarel Small and Elizabeth Cordiglia, said they could now settle their vet bill and put some money towards November salaries.

Local schools, businesses, churches and individuals all came to the party in support of this worthy cause.
