Sanral maps out road network strategy

The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) on Thursday hosted a Horizon 2030 and Transformation Stakeholder Engagement event at the Premier Hotel The Richards

THE South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) on Thursday hosted a Horizon 2030 and Transformation Stakeholder Engagement event at the Premier Hotel The Richards.
Currently on the KZN leg of a national roadshow, Sanral representatives took various stakeholders through a series of presentations, outlining the State-owned entity’s strategy for the next 13 years to develop and manage the country’s national road network.
‘Both big business and SMMEs alike need to be informed of Sanral’s new strategic direction stemming from the Horizon 2030 strategy launched by Minister of Transport, Joe Maswanganyi, on 29 September in Johannesburg.
‘The coming decade will see a focus on long-term planning, a review of network growth, Sanral’s mandate, emphasis on relevance and concerted steps to deal with fair access to opportunities and redress of past imbalances,’ Sanral said.
There is an emphasis on transformation and its impact on procurement. Speaking in a recorded presentation, Sanral CEO Skhumbuzo Macozoma said the transformation policy will ensure
inclusive participation of black South Africans in opportunities generated by Sanral through its annual financial investment in the construction and related industries.
