Help CROW to help wildlife

Release sites needed in Zululand for rehabilitated wildlife

CROW (Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife), South Africa’s longest-serving wildlife rehabilitation centre, is appealing to Zululand farmers and landowners to consider becoming an accredited CROW release site.

Every year, CROW, which is based in Durban, rescues, rehabilitates and releases over 4 000 orphaned, injured and displaced wild animals.

With this number increasing, the NPO is under increasing pressure to source extra viable release sites.

‘CROW is in desperate need of new release sites and would appreciate assistance from any farmers, reserves or landowners that are willing to lend a helping hand by giving some of our patients a second chance at a free, safe and sustainable life back in the wild,’ said CROW’s Director, Paul Hoyte.

‘There are several factors to take into account when considering a release site, such as release permits and international wildlife rehabilitation standards, to prevent any incidents, including illegal hunting or problem animals.

‘CROW is well versed in release site inspections, along with the relevant conservation body that will attend inspections.’

CROW is the only wildlife rehabilitation centre in Durban registered to work with all types of indigenous wildlife found in KZN.

As a registered NPO, CROW is 100% reliant on donations from the public.
