EIGHT teams took to the eShowe Bowling Club’s greens on the weekend to compete in the inaugural Hornbill Bowls Trophy.

The intermittent rain made the going tough, with bowlers having to compensate for the wet greens with almost every delivery.

After the first three rounds of 15 ends each, and two rounds to play on Sunday, the Empangeni Bowling Club team skipped by Steve Oberholzer was in the lead with a score of 24+28.

They were followed by Anita Scott (Richards Bay) on 24+12, Mike Bowman (Mtunzini) on 18+7 and Henry Klofta’s Vryheid team on 15+12.
