Seven teachers, including four in the King Cetshwayo District, were handed precautionary suspension letters in September, pending an investigation

THE investigation continues into allegations against a number of KZN educators accused of sexually assaulting learners.

MEC Mthandeni Dlungwana’s spokesperson Kwazi Mthethwa told the ZO on Wednesday that ‘a committee was established to handle the matter and they will report back to us as soon as they are done’.

Seven teachers, including four in the King Cetshwayo District, were handed precautionary suspension letters in September, pending an investigation.

The four educators in the district are from Dlangezwa High School, Zinqobele High School and Manqamu High School.

King Cetshwayo District Director of Education, David Chonco confirmed in September that precautionary suspension letters were handed to the acting principal, a teacher and a security guard at Dlangezwa. The security guard has since left the school.

Letters were also handed to one teacher at Manqamu and another at Zinqobele for similar offences.

The South African Council of Educators (SACE) also confirmed it has begun a preliminary investigation into the matter.

‘We have already started with the preliminary investigation and the SACE investigation team will visit the area on Monday and Tuesday,’ SACE spokesperson Themba Ndhlovu said.
