LIVESTOCK owners have been warned by the KZN SAPS Stock Theft Unit.
Stock thieves are now informing owners, who have lost their livestock, that they had found and recovered their stolen livestock.
The thieves pretend to be police officers from the Stock Theft Unit from other provinces investigating their cases.
They inform the victim that their livestock has been recovered and the ‘owners need to deposit cash into a bank account to cover transport costs’.
More than R2 000 has been demanded by these con men.

The SAPS say no investigating officer will ask the victim for money, but will assist victims to recover their stock.
These could even include transport to view the recovered livestock.
Criminals are targeting victims close to the provincial borders.
Victims of stock theft are advised to contact their investigating officers as soon as they have opened a stock theft case.
If victims are contacted by these criminals, they must immediately contact their nearest police station or their investigating officer.
