A MZINGAZI gogo and her family who lost all their belongings when their house burnt down last year October, were handed the keys to their brand new house last week.
The building project was spearheaded by community worker Sharon Mdletshe’s NPO Eagles Wings Shelter, together with ward councillor Desmond Mkhize and a host of generous sponsors.
After the fire a temporary shelter was set up for Gogo Gumede’s family by the uMfolozi Municipality.

Mdletshe said, despite the challenges over the past few months, God was with her every step of the way in ensuring the house was completed.
‘We received a cash donation from News24 and also appealed to locals to support us to build just a one-bedroom house for the family, but God had other plans and the family now has a beautiful spacious two-bedroom house with new beds, an open plan kitchen with appliances, and a lounge.’

‘The lesson I learned during this process was that I had to persevere and push through, as this is my training ground for our next project, the Eagles Wings Shelter for abused women and children,’ she said.
