POLICE are investigating a case of arson and malicious damage to property following a fire on Friday night at the Catherine Booth Hospital near aMatikulu.
The crisis centre at the hospital was razed to the ground and could not be saved.
No other buildings were damaged and no one was injured as the building was not occupied at the time.
It has not been confirmed that the fire may have been started by disgruntled contractors.
Earlier in the week their contracts had not been renewed and they were told their services were no longer needed.
Attempts to contact the Department of Health’s local communication’s section for further comment proved unsuccessful.
