Vehicle hijacked in Brackenham

Resident suffers double blow with car tyres theft and hijacking in one month

A BRACKENHAM resident suffered a double blow after his son’s vehicle was hijacked on Saturday night, while the tyres of his bakkie were stolen three weeks ago.

Isaac Naidoo of Hedge Hunt street said his son drove into the property at about 8.45pm on Saturday and was accosted by armed suspects in the driveway.

Holding him up at gunpoint, they demanded the car keys and told him to lie on the ground while they took his wallet and cellphone. They drove away in his white VW Golf.

Naidoo said the family were inside the house at the time but did not hear the commotion.

‘It happened really fast and the suspects came on foot, so there was no noise at all.

‘We are so frustrated with the crime in the suburb because just three weeks ago two brand new tyres were stolen off my bakkie parked inside the premises and behind locked gates.

‘The Brackenham Community Crime Watch patrol team responded soon after the incident and were of great help and support.’

The family did receive calls from people pretending to have information about the vehicle, but they were only interested in extorting money.
