RAPE accused Siduduzo Myeza (30) was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in the eShowe Regional Court on Wednesday.
It was heard that Myeza accosted a 25-year-old woman walking through a sugarcane field in the Entumeni area in December.
He grabbed her and repeatedly raped her.
The bleeding victim managed to flee and community members came to her aid, transporting her to a medical facility where she was treated.
The incident was reported to the eShowe police and the docket was transferred to the eShowe Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual offences Unit for investigation.
