Empangeni businessman arrested for rape

The identity of the man cannot be revealed owing to the nature of the charges

A WELL known Empangeni businessman will soon be in the dock of a Pinetown court after having been charged with two counts of rape.

According to a source close to the ZO, the charges relate to incidents of sexual abuse dating back more than 10 years.

The identity of the accused is known to the ZO, but, according to the National Prosecuting Authority, cannot be published owing to the sensitive nature of the charges and those involved.

The accused was earlier this month arrested in Pinetown where he made his first court appearance.

He was released on R3 000 bail and the case remanded to 12 October.

The matter will be heard in Pinetown.
